This is the recipe I have been using for years for my
yeast starter for my wine. Prepare one day in advance
of starting your wine.
· Add together in a sauce pan
o 6 oz. can of Frozen Orange Juice
o 5 cups Water
o 2 Tbs. Sugar
o ½ tea Citric Acid
o 1/8 tea Epsom Salt
· Bring to a boil
· Cool to room temperature
· Put into sterile container
· Add to the starter
o 25 mg Vitamin B1
o Yeast
· Shake gently to mix and add O2
· Store at 72° with a loose fitting cap
If you have 250mg tabs of B1 just dissolve a tab in 10 Tbls
water and put one Tbls of the mix into the starter to get 25mg…
